Agri-Chemicals Formulation Chemists

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: College degree required; a Master of Science or Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or materials science preferred. An advanced degree is not required for individuals with adequate experience. Knowledge of agricultural formulations, their use, physical testing requirements and new technologies amounting to at least 5 years’ experience in the development of agricultural formulations is essential to perform this job.

Experience: Developing new formulations and products is necessary, and a working knowledge of global regulatory requirements and protocols for physical testing of new formulations is a plus. Must have a working knowledge in formulation and analytical chemistry equipment and its use, as well as a basic knowledge of analytical chemistry. This position requires a Working knowledge of patent processes and intellectual property management. Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential for this position, and knowledge of a second language, such as Spanish or Portuguese is beneficial.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and evaluate new formulations for global proprietary product portfolio, focusing on product differentiation and added value attributes. Develop new intellectual property and ensure freedom to operate new and existing products.

Conduct physical and chemical evaluations of candidate formulations and competitive products to address global needs. Conduct or outsource regulatory studies related to formulations according to Global Regulatory guidelines and needs.

Prepare samples for global field trials and provide needed information on sample handling and use.

Maintain and develop knowledge of competitive products and novel technologies. Utilize to identify and develop novel products portfolio. Reverse engineer competitor products where appropriate. Build relationships with university research institutes and industrial provides with formulation expertise.

Project Management – ensure that design goals for new formulation projects, and project plans are prepared, documented aligned with stakeholder needs for formulation activities. Coordinate work on specific projects at other, or external laboratories where appropriate, utilize and maintain databases for assigned projects.

Provide technical support to various stakeholders, support manufacturing scale up, cost reduction efforts and production. Work closely on product development teams with Global Product Development and Marketing Managers, Field Researchers, Supply Chain and Manufacturing staff, Registration Managers, Patent Attorneys, and other formulation chemists within the firms’ network.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our client as a Regulatory Affairs Manager. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in preparing, executing, and coordinating Registration Projects in both Canada and the US, navigating through the intricacies of PMRA and FIFRA regulations.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, execute, and coordinate Registration Projects in Canada and the US (PMRA, FIFRA).

  • Communicate and collaborate with business teams, customers, and authorities on regulatory topics.

  • Interpret, evaluate, and effectively communicate technical material and government regulations to employees and customers.

  • Coordinate with external laboratories to place studies and ensure services delivered for data required for regulatory purposes.

 Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS in chemistry, biology, engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in food and or crop protection regulatory affairs.

  • Independent, with excellent communication and project management skills.

  • Several years of experience and technical knowledge of current FIFRA and PMRA regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of legal developments relevant to biocides, pesticides, herbicides and more

  • Working knowledge of FDA and Canadian FDA specific to indirect food contact clearances for biocides.
