REGIONAL MANAGER, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, AGRICULTURE

JOB FUNCTION

The Regional Product Development Manager position is responsible for development and commercialization of new technologies as well as supporting the performance of existing products for the assigned Region. This team is comprised of advanced degreed life-science and agronomic personnel responsible for designing studies to bring new products and technologies to the domestic market in a broad range of crop and non-crop sectors.  Product Development Managers have both geographic as well as product responsibilities. Regional Product Development Managers interact with numerous teams in Sales, Marketing, Chemistry, Regulatory and Business Development providing a unique connection to researchers at academic institutions as well as third-party Centers of Influence and independent research teams to build the companies R&D product performance specifications.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Plan and execute field research programs pursuant to company annual development objectives with focus on the assigned Territories.

·      Support the Commercial Teams to support the current product line as well as identify new opportunities.

·      Provide strategic development planning for new technologies and deliver specific actions needed to drive commercial product label expansions.

·      Create strong relationships with key influencers in the region to understand and enhance commercial opportunities.

·      Provide leadership and guidance for up to 4 Product Development direct reports and manage dedicated contractors.

·      Track regional Product Development operational expenses.

·      Plan and supervise contract research to ensure high quality data is delivered accurately and in a timely manner.

·      Work with Department peers to implement national R&D programs.

·      Follow and report on competitive activities within the region and nationally as appropriate. 

·      Identify strategic opportunities to capture new technology and intellectual property.

·      Actively participate in key regional and national technical conferences.  

·      Work with Commercial and Technical Support Teams to develop product labels, collateral and other product technical information.

·      Take a leadership role in cross functional teams tasked with finding new opportunities.  

·      Assist regional Commercial teams in the implementation of product demonstrations.  

·      Provide technical training on existing and new products for commercial teams, key customers and others as needed.    

·      Assist in the resolution of product enquiries as needed. 

·      Act as liaison between the state and local regulators and company Regulatory Affairs Department to identify key local, regional or national regulatory issues.  

·      Build relationships with key industry groups that are needed to support commercial and regulatory efforts.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in a biological sciences or agricultural related field, such as Weed Science, Entomology, or Plant Pathology, with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Knowledge in multiple crop protection disciplines would be advantageous.  In summary, the incumbent should excel in the following areas:

·      use of standard software for data capture as well as the Microsoft suite of products for data analysis.

The candidate should be willing to travel between 30 and 40% of the time. Physical location should be within the region and close proximity to an airport.
