Regional Technical Field Development Representative

 

In this role you will serve as the face of the Company for our university and private research partners. As a regional scientist you will schedule, oversee, summarize and report back to the Sr. Director of Field Research next steps in making a go/no-go decision on development projects. Additionally, regional scientist will schedule work to promote all products and brand awareness with key researchers, distribution partners and end users. Working collaboratively with colleagues in the marketing department will be critical to placement of protocols. Internal requirements will focus on employee training for new products or new uses for existing products, as well as project status updates for key stake holders. Research scientists must always maintain the confidential nature of projects, internally and externally. Smart travel and planning are essential tools for completing assigned tasks. Travel requirements will require candidates to spend upwards of 50% of their time away from their office, either home or headquarters

Research and Development Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Coordinate research needs in assigned region of the United States for registered formulations

  • Establish relationships with key university and private research programs to promote brand awareness

  • Protocol placement for new active ingredients; summarize data for go/no-go decision

  • Develop fungicide, herbicide and insecticide programs based on registered products

  • In-house research work for “Discovery Stage” products or product complaint validation

  • Internal training and education for new products

  • External training for distribution partners for new products

  • Regional technical assistance for end users

  • Regional technical assistance as directed by Sr. Director of Field Research for complaint investigation

  • Provide marketing with data to support future products

  • Attend regional field days and regional and national meetings to support company brands

  • Attend regional sales meeting with territory reps as scheduled by the Director of field research

  • Conduct two scheduled (mid-year and end of year) internal research updates for company stake holders

New Business Development Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Provide technical consultation to new business development lead

  • Meet with potential new supply partners to provide agronomic advice

  • Support asset manager development of business plans

  • Develop biological/alternative control option evaluation process

  • Support project management and projects related to biological/alternative control options

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in agronomy, weed science, entomology, plant pathology, soil science; Ph.D. Preferred

  • Experience: 1+ years’ experience with Ph.D.; 10+ years’ experience with master’s degree.

  • Specialized knowledge or training: Ability to plan and implement research protocols. Knowledge of ARM software used for planning, tracking and summarizing all research. Public speaking skills for internal and external training on current and future products.
