Agricultural Soil Technical Representatives 40k to 60k + Benefits+Car – VA

Job Description:
Miller Ag seeks to fill the following roles with our clients; we seek top candidates for these roles.

Recent Agricultural Graduates with advanced degrees in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Sciences

Champlain Virginia location

Looking for Soil Science, Agronomy, Plant Sciences or strong understanding of Crop Production. Entry level Grads with Masters in related Sciences highly desired.

Salary 40K + full benefits

Primary Accountabilities:

• Work closely with TSD to provide feedback on land base status, operational concerns, agronomic issues, public relations, etc.
• Acquire and maintain adequate land base for all projects under your direct management.
• Prepare permit applications, modifications, and NMP’s as needed for sites in assigned areas. This may include but are not limited to:
- Soil and biosolids sampling;
- Map collection and preparation;
- Review of USDA-SCS soil surveys, tax and topographic maps to determine land base acceptability; and
- Participate in site inspection with regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate field scheduling with farmers and operations crews, including field flagging to ensure proper application.
• Act as regulatory liaison with state and local agencies, ensure compliance with all regulatory and permit conditions.
• Perform thorough recordkeeping for state and local government monitoring programs.
• Review and update environmental requirements and ensure documentation is maintained, testing is completed and results submitted as needed for all environmental or other regulatory requirements. Contact farm operators on a routine basis in order to address concerns and obtain feedback on our performance, as well as competitors’ activities.
• Provide technical information and presentations to farmers, regulatory agencies, municipal clients and the general public as needed.
• Participate in local agricultural organizations and activities, as well as local community acceptance programs
• Assist Operations crew when necessary including operating farm and heavy equipment for land spreading activities.
• Manage and supervise operations, including sub-contractors.
• Assist with Sales and Project Development when necessary.

Qualifications Required:
• Masters degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Agricultural Sciences, Plant Science, Weed Science, Soil Sciences or related field expereince OR Bachelor’s or technical course graduation in related sciences and a minimum 2 years’ experience in an agricultural technical field position dealing with crops.
• Ability to work independently and as a productive team player; Strong organizational, time management and detail skills needed.
• Knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures, methods and techniques used in agricultural and/or farming operations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication selling skills including a demonstrated ability to effectively “cold call” on farmers.
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal, written and oral presentations) with all levels of the organization and external audiences.
• Task oriented and innovative; willing to make suggestions to improve work processes and flow
• Ability to operate office equipment including computers and presentation equipment in addition to Windows operating system and Microsoft programs and Adobe.
• Possess a driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel throughout the upper Midwest with extended time away from the office. Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required.
