Agri-Chemicals Formulation Chemists needed

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: College degree required; a Master of Science or Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or materials science preferred. An advanced degree is not required for individuals with adequate experience. Knowledge of agricultural formulations, their use, physical testing requirements and new technologies amounting to at least 5 years’ experience in the development of agricultural formulations is essential to perform this job.

Experience: Developing new formulations and products is necessary, and a working knowledge of global regulatory requirements and protocols for physical testing of new formulations is a plus. Must have a working knowledge in formulation and analytical chemistry equipment and its use, as well as a basic knowledge of analytical chemistry. This position requires a Working knowledge of patent processes and intellectual property management. Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential for this position, and knowledge of a second language, such as Spanish or Portuguese is beneficial.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and evaluate new formulations for global proprietary product portfolio, focusing on product differentiation and added value attributes. Develop new intellectual property and ensure freedom to operate for new and existing products.

Conduct physical and chemical evaluations of candidate formulations and competitive products to address global needs. Conduct or outsource regulatory studies related to formulations according to Global Regulatory guidelines and needs.

Prepare samples for global field trials and provide needed information on sample handling and use.

Maintain and develop knowledge of competitive products and novel technologies. Utilize to identify and develop novel products portfolio. Reverse engineer competitor products where appropriate. Build relationships with university research institutes and industrial provides with formulation expertise

Project Management – ensure that design goals for new formulation projects, and project plans are prepared, documented aligned with stakeholder needs for formulation activities. Coordinate work on specific projects at other, or external laboratories where appropriate, utilize and maintain databases for assigned projects.

Provide technical support to various stakeholders, support manufacturing scale up, cost reduction efforts and production. Work closely on product development teams with Global Product Development and Marketing Managers, Field Researchers, Supply Chain and Manufacturing staff, Registration Managers, Patent Attorneys, and other formulation chemists within the firms’ network.

Director of Process Chemistry Agri Chemicals

The Director of Process Chemistry manages and mentors all members of the Process Chemistry group, including R&D Chemists, Process Chemists and Scientists located at all sites. The Director is responsible for project management and the performance of their direct reports including hiring, managing and training. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Agri Chemical E-Fate Scientists Ph.D or MS

Senior Level Environmental Environmental Fate and Metabolism Scientists needed.

This role is USA based and requires ability to work in the USA freely, we are not currently looking outside the US for candidates.

Scope: We are seeking an individual with experience conducting and managing GLP-compliant studies of the environmental fate of agricultural products. Additionally, the candidate will have experience dealing with regulatory agencies and drafting advocacy documents, experience interacting with both commercial and science groups, and a track record of recommending actions for scientific and regulatory strategies. The candidate will provide leadership in the development of e-fate study designs for global regulations, prepare protocols and manage the conduct of studies to determine the fate of test compounds in soil, water, plants, or animals, and become versed in e-fate information from historical studies.

Major Responsibility Areas

· Coordinate e-fate and crop residue field program, animal in-life phase, and analytical phase of studies.

· Provide oversight and leadership in the development of study designs, prepare protocols, and conduct studies necessary to determine the fate of test compounds in soil, water, plants or animals (livestock).

· Have knowledge and experience in the conduct of hydrolysis, photolysis, soil degradation, mobility, crop residues, and/or animal tissue residues to meet global study requirements.

· Ensure all contract laboratory operations and record keeping are of high quality, in compliance with the GLP standards, and meet other applicable regulations.

· Evaluate and trouble-shoot procedures and methodologies for the isolation, identification, and quantification of degradation products in soil, water, plants, and animals.

· Assure that study reports are completed on a timely basis to meet study goals and/or product registration needs.

· Contribute to FQPA risk assessment scenarios. Coordinate with Risk Assessment & Modeling to complete e-fate modeling and exposure risk assessments using e-fate data and parameters.

· Address Area needs for fate and exposure information and arguments to maintain registrations and competitive products.

· Partner or mentor others in the preparation of advocacy documents by providing interpretation of the science to support business expansion; rebutting and defending our position with regulators.

· Understand global guidelines and registrations requirements for crop and non-crop uses, support Area Registration Managers, and Global Regulatory Managers to satisfying data requirements.

· Manage the establishment of crop tolerances that support domestic and offshore uses of agricultural products. Oversee and lead the support of existing international MRLs/crop tolerances and establish new ones with the World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization.

· Create an environment that fosters team work and individual development.

· Effectively and proactively manage multiple projects and resources to meet deadlines.

· Work to continuously improve processes, reducing resource commitments and reducing time.

Education PhD with 10 years relevant experience in environmental fate chemistry (soil, water, plants), food/feed residue analysis, analytical chemistry, and/or metabolism chemistry or

MS plus 15 years relevant experience as noted above

Experience

· Experience conducting and managing GLP-compliant environmental fate studies for agricultural products in soil, water, plants, livestock, or non-target species.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Management: Develop and lead product stewardship programs throughout the business and influence outcomes whenever possible to enhance competitive position. Key areas of oversight are research and development, manufacturing, storage, transportation and distribution, safe use and container management. Understand the global and local legislative and regulatory initiatives that shape the regulatory environment for the industry and recommend change in advance of competitive pressure. Lead the external Stewardship Sustainability Council to provide long-term strategies and guidance for Ag group.  Lead efforts to develop global communication plans regarding product stewardship, and our products.

Issues Management: Lead an established internal network of area business unit product stewardship partners to establish a common understanding of challenges and pursue effective proactive programs that maintain and enhance public standing as a socially responsible and responsive organization.  Interact constructively with non-government organizations (NGO’s) – i.e. conservationists, environmentalists – to achieve products stewardship and sustainability goals.

External Focus: Monitor and communicate the key social, political, and regulatory forces shaping the external environment, Influence outcomes that benefit company as a member of industry association committees (Product Stewardship, FAO Code of Conduct, Container Management, Working Group Product Stewardship and Communication

Compliance: Ensure the success of the Responsible Care Management System programs through training, audits, and action plans to address non-conformances and opportunities for improvement.  Ensure adverse events are reported and evaluated as an early warning system for breakdowns in stewardship systems. Continue training and implementing the human health monitoring programs in the areas.

Personal and Organizational Development: Pursue personal development activities to continually build competence, increase effectiveness and enhance potential for advancement to higher levels of responsibility.  Contribute to the development of other members of global regulatory community. Recommend organizational change including staffing in response to evolving business strategy and needs.

Required Education:

· Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in a related discipline (e.g. chemistry, toxicology, eco-toxicology, environmental fate) preferred, with a minimum of 10 years regulatory experience in the agricultural industry dealing with registration and regulatory matters

Qualifications:

· Diverse experiences in the areas of influencing internal and external partners including regulators and managing compliance issues

Description
The Manager of Quality Assurance will lead the QC labs at 2 plants by ensuring adequate staffing, qualification, training and equipment to fulfill the legal requirements and those defined by processes and guidelines for quality management and EHS.

The successful candidate will ensure safe and reliable operations while striving for cost and efficiency optimization while developing relevant quality guidelines, procedures and processes as required and keep those updated and conforming with the respective requirements.

Description:

- PhD degree in Analytical or Organic Chemistry – OR – MS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of broad-based analytical knowledge and experience.
- Supervisory experience, providing adequate supervision, guidance and training..
- Experience in effective quality management systems.
- Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting sophisticated analytical instrumentation.
- Analytical thinking and planning skills.
- Communication skills, capable of convincing and persuading others.
- Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred:
- Chromatography (HPLC-UV, HPLC-MS, GC), spectroscopy and wet chemical techniques.
- Proactive collaboration within and outside respective manufacturing sites.

E-Fate & Metabolism Scientists

The position reports directly to the Director of Fate & Metabolism or management designee. Position is responsible for the direction and supervision of Jr. staff dedicated to conducting a broad range of regulated studies for the Agricultural Chemical/Ag Biotech industry.

Job Summary

The E-Fate & Metabolism Scientist provides a group of regulated testing services, including analytical or biological support for regulated products, primarily crop protection products. Individual is responsible for the management and supervision of Jr. subordinate activities related to the conduct, analysis, evaluation, and reporting of contracted studies. The E-Fate & Metabolism Scientist ensures conformance to technical, quality assurance, and global regulatory requirements. He/She collaborates with other Technical Leaders and Senior Scientists to assure overall study and program success. He/She provides overall supervisory direction to the team and may also mentor to develop more junior scientists. The group Leader will provide technical training to team members as needed and will help with proposal development. This position serves as a Study Director on highly complex studies or programs.

Job Duties

  • Regulatory responsibilities for the program
  • Liaison with Business Development within their area of expertise
  • Lead and manage a team of Jr. scientists
  • Promotes the entire company’s expertise
  • Provide technical advice on Fate & Metabolism study design for the Agricultural Chemical/Ag Biotech industry industry
  • Collaborate with other departments on technical issues
  • Collaborate with field cooperators on in-life phase of metabolism studies
  • Responsible for staying abreast of regulatory changes and trends within the industry
  • Program management for select clients and/or programs

Job Specifications

  • Ph.D./M.S. degree in Toxicology, Environmental Chemistry, Metabolism or related  discipline or another appropriate science field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in E-Fate & Metabolism within the Agricultural Chemical/Ag Biotech industry.
  • Prior experience managing a team of scientists at varying levels
  • Technical skills in regulated studies is mandatory
  • Ability to interact with clients
  • Prior Experience in a GLP environment
